Julen Lopetegui’s been out of a job since West Ham let him go in January. Now, his name’s popping up alongside several clubs. The latest one? Mexico’s Monterrey.

Lopetegui could replace Martín Demichelis, and that’d mean a reunion with Sergio Ramos. He used to coach Ramos with the Spanish national team and briefly at Real Madrid.

What’s in it for Lopetegui?

He’d also get to work with familiar faces like Óliver Torres and Corona again. They were all together at FC Porto and Sevilha. That could make his transition smoother.

Monterrey’s not doing great – ninth in the Liga MX with 19 points. They’re out of the Concacaf Champions League too. Coach Demichelis and the players aren’t seeing eye-to-eye either. He recently clashed with captain Sergio Canales.

Lopetegui wants to stay in the Premier League, so Monterrey needs to convince him to make the move. If he says yes, he’d be the highest-paid coach in the league.
