Lidl is going to auction digital NFT Easter eggs: April 1 or real?

Striking NFT news from home! Lidl Nederland, the well-known supermarket chain, has announced non-fungible token (NFT) to auction Easter eggs. Lidl announced the news in a message on Instagram.

Lidl NFT: real or a joke?

The animation shows several “virtual Easter eggs”, each with its own unique design. So they are perfect digital objects to launch as NFT. Lidl addresses “crypto crazies, NFT collectors and Lidl fans” in the message, writing:

“This is your chance to become the owner of one of the unique Lidl merchandised NFT eggs! 🥚Especially for anyone who wants to own a piece of Lidl.”

The NFT eggs will be auctioned and eventually sold for cryptocurrency. It is not known whether it concerns bitcoin (BTC), ethereum (ETH) or another cryptocurrency. It is also not clear on which NFT marketplace they will be auctioned.

If you look at his agenda, you will also notice that today is March 31, so tomorrow is April 1. The reactions in the comments are therefore divided; almost half think it is an April Fool’s joke, the other half is very enthusiastic!

Lidl NFTs not unrealistic

Although everything that revolves around crypto may sound very complex to the layman, it is nowadays very easy to create an NFT. This can be done on different networks, such as on Ethereum, Cardano (ADA) and Solana (SOL). The latter network will be added to NFT marketplace OpenSea next month. The marketplace offers useful tools to create NFTs.

Anyway, it’s interesting news. If it turns out to be a joke, at least tens of thousands of people have been exposed to NFTs and crypto.
