Leroy Merlin Spain Sees 5.2% Growth Reaching €3.59 Billion Sales

Leroy Merlin Spain just released its 2024 financial results, showing it’s still a leader in home improvement. The company turned 35 and had a record €3.59 billion in sales – up 5.2% from last year. Its operating profit jumped 30.5% to €216 million.

Over the past four years, Leroy Merlin’s sales have grown 56%. CEO Alain Ryckeboer says these results prove the company is strong, stable, and growing steadily. This growth is largely due to a 33% surge in online sales, an 11% increase in sales to professionals, and a 9% rise in project sales.

The company’s tax contribution reached €526 million in 2024 – an 11% increase from last year. This represents a 51% jump over five years. As a result, Leroy Merlin shared €64.3 million in profits with its 18,000 employees. Ryckeboer says this success is due to the hard work and customer focus of the teams.

Investing in local communities

Leroy Merlin Spain is committed to the local business community, investing over €93 million in 2024. This brings its total investment to €431 million over the past five years. The company is also dedicated to working with local suppliers – 74.5% of its suppliers are Spanish. In 2024, it spent €1.708 billion on local purchases.

Omnichannel strategy pays off

Leroy Merlin’s online sales channels grew rapidly in 2024. Its app now accounts for 25% of digital sales, with a 106% increase in revenue. The company’s marketplace has 2.3 million products and 1,600 sellers – a 59% increase from last year. Sales reached €96 million, up 90% from 2023.

Fernando de Palacio, marketing and business development director, says the growth is due to the seamless integration of physical and digital sales channels. The company has invested heavily in technology to improve the customer experience, spending over €64 million in 2024.

Sustainable shopping

Leroy Merlin launched Home Index in 2024, a tool that measures the environmental and social impact of each product. This helps customers make informed, sustainable choices. Over 150,000 products have been rated, with 70% receiving high scores. The company aims to have all suppliers and products rated in the near future.

Leroy Merlin also promotes circular business practices, recovering nearly 200,000 products worth €3 million in 2024. It also offers product rental as a sustainable alternative, with over 10,000 products rented in the past year. The company is working to reduce its carbon footprint by 50% by 2035 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

Cristina Sánchez, sustainability director, highlights the company’s social initiatives, including Hogares Dignos, which has helped over 26,000 people, and Hazlo Verde, an education program that has taught over 930,000 young people about sustainability.
