He shared the difficulties he faced during and after the injury. Rahul was injured in his thigh.
Rahul spoke to BCCI TV about his injury. On his return he said: “I feel good. Of course it’s good to have the team back. Everything was done on time. So I’m happy that I was able to meet all the criteria.”
The wicketkeeper batsman spoke about the operation. He said: “When you have to have surgery the most important thing is that you respect the fact that you have put your body into something big, you have had a big operation so you have to respect it and the body. “Give it time to recover.” He further said that it would take them a few weeks to get back in touch.
The Indian player further said, “The most important thing was that I felt confident in my body and became pain-free. I knew I would come back and I had to do wicketkeeping too. This was a major concern for the physical therapist and me. It was a big challenge to get rid of that fear and pain.”
The Indian batsman shared what a mental battle he had to overcome. He said: “You’re fighting a big mental battle where you’re constantly thinking, ‘I can feel pain,’ and when you’re in that mindset you can’t focus on the ability.”
