Kit Barrus, a popular OnlyFans creator, has shared an interesting look into her past. She grew up in a Mormon home but left the church during her teenage years. Now, Kit openly tells Us Weekly that she doesn’t see herself as a “religious person.”
“I got a lot out of my Mormon upbringing, but I also felt a lot of negativity,” she explained. “It’s ended up being a neutral experience for me. That’s just my journey, though. Most people I know who left felt more negative about it.”
After stepping away from the church, Kit gathered a small following on TikTok. She was juggling several jobs at the time. It wasn’t until her followers suggested she open an OnlyFans account that she began creating adult content. “I’m actually a pretty mainstream creator,” she joked with Us Weekly about her NSFW (Not Safe For Work) videos.
A New Path and Unexpected Success
Her first month on the platform brought a huge surprise. Kit earned $10,000. “It was absolutely wild,” Kit told Us Weekly, remembering that moment. “It truly changed my life. My first thought was, ‘I can’t waste this chance. There’s something real here. I can’t let it slip away.’ So, I bought a camera right away. I immediately invested in lights and other gear. I just dove right in.”
When it comes to how her Mormon past connects with her current career, Kit shared that she still considers herself a “spiritual person.”
“I believe we are all spiritual in the end,” she explained. “Hope is such a human emotion, a very human experience. We all hope that we are more than just the bodies we walk around in. It’s tough because I feel like religion does give you something.”
Kit also mentioned talking with other ex-Mormon friends. They agree that people from a Mormon background are “so kind, so generous, and so dedicated.”
“They just teach you this set of values that can sometimes feel irrational,” she said. “But these values stick with you for the rest of your life. You also carry some trauma. Still, many ex-Mormons I’ve met are truly amazing people, just incredibly good. I would trust them with anything.”
Navigating Public Life and Private Truths
As she makes her way through the world of adult content creation, Kit admitted she initially kept her OnlyFans career a secret from her close circle.
“I kept it very, very private when I first started the account,” she shared. “I got a lot of really bad reactions back then. That has definitely shaped how I interact with people now. I still don’t tell people directly. You need to get to know me a bit first.”
Among those still in the dark are her parents.
“I don’t know if they’ll ever find out,” she said. “But I feel like we’re in a really good place right now. If they did find out, I think my dad would just ignore it. I think he’d pretend he still doesn’t know. I believe that’s probably best for our relationship.” She noted that she sees her father a couple of times each week. “I think he’s at a point where he would simply say, ‘I didn’t see it. I don’t know anything about it. I’m just going to hang out with my daughter and be happy.'”
