His upcoming trip to Birmingham, where he was set to attend four significant events, has been postponed as a precautionary measure, following medical advice. The palace did not disclose further details about the king’s side effects.
The 76-year-old king has been undergoing cancer treatment for over a year. Despite this, he has continued to carry out his state duties, including reviewing official documents and meeting with the prime minister.
In recent weeks, King Charles has been active in his role, visiting Northern Ireland and attending the Commonwealth Day service, which he missed last year due to his cancer treatment. He also recently released a playlist of his favorite songs.
King Charles has played a significant role in global diplomacy, inviting former US President Donald Trump to visit the UK for a second time and expressing support for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy after a meeting with Trump at the White House.
He also warmly welcomed Canada’s new prime minister, Mark Carney, whose country has faced pressure from Trump. These actions demonstrate the king’s continued energy and commitment to his role.
The postponement of his visit to the Vatican, announced earlier this week, was reportedly due to the health of Pope Francis, not King Charles himself. The remainder of his trip to Italy is expected to proceed as planned.
Despite uncertainty surrounding his future health, the palace confirmed that King Charles is expected to return to his normal duties next week.
