Russian Special Forces Surround School Tied to Khabib’s Late Father Amid Terror Probe
Russian special forces have surrounded Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov’s school in Makhachkala, Dagestan, amid an investigation into the recent terrorist attacks in the region. According to Russian media, police have identified three members of the school who had close contact with a participant in the terrorist attacks, including Gadzhimurad Kagirov, who was trained at the school.
The terrorist attacks, which occurred on June 23, targeted a synagogue, Orthodox churches, and a police station, resulting in the deaths of more than 15 police officers and four civilians. The organizer of the attacks was identified as Magomed Omarov, the son of the former head of the Sergokalinsky district of Dagestan.
Security forces have taken statements from Khabib Nurmagomedov, the current coach, and other athletes at the complex, and all of their documents have been reviewed. Additionally, preliminary operational activities were reportedly conducted at the school in the event of terrorist attacks in Dagestan.
Khabib’s Reaction
After the attacks, Khabib and the school named after his father issued statements condemning the violence and supporting the families of the victims. Khabib’s statement read: “My deepest condolences to all the family and friends of the victims. May Allah free us all from these types of institutions and grant us a peaceful sky above our heads. Take care of yourselves and your loved ones and everyone around you should take care of your children, those you interact with and those around you. Educating souls is more important than educating bodies.”
McGregor’s Reaction
Conor McGregor, Khabib’s rival, has taken to social media to capitalize on the situation, claiming that he was “right” about Khabib’s manager being a “terrorist rat” in 2018. McGregor also posted a message ranting about Khabib, claiming that there is a video of Khabib entering a crowded venue and destroying it with a bat, threatening everyone inside.
