The former Indian captain, who won the World Cup for India for the first time in 1983, further said: I think there is a lot of cricket left in Virat Kohli. They need to work hard on their own. They have to fight with themselves. But if Virat is not in shape, it is not bad to leave him.
He further said, this is what we want Virat to return. But the important thing is what the selectors want. But if he’s not scoring runs, then if he’s released or rested, I have no objection to that.
Is Virat necessary in the T20 World Cup? In response, Kapil Dev said: Yes, I want Kohli to play in the World Cup, but for that he has to be fit. For this they have to play. In such a situation, if he will rest and play, then how will he get fit?
