Released on October 20, 1995, ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ is one of the most beloved and successful Hindi films of all time. It is a landmark in Indian cinema history. The romantic drama notably holds the record as one of the longest-running films ever.
It was continuously screened at the Maratha Mandir cinema in Mumbai for many years following its premiere. A significant portion of the film, starring Shah Rukh Khan as Raj and Kajol as Simran, was shot in the picturesque landscapes of Switzerland.
The story follows Raj and Simran, who fall in love while vacationing in Europe with friends. Raj then embarks on a mission to win over Simran’s conservative family. Her father, portrayed by Amrish Puri, had already arranged her marriage to another man.
