Jumbo-Visma’s Vingegaard Faces Stern Test in Massif Central Stages of Tour de France

Tour de France: A New Mountain Day Ahead

The Tour de France is back in competition after a rest day, with a new mountain day on the way to Saint Amand Montrond. The contenders for the general classification are preparing for a challenging day with 4,350 meters of elevation difference over 187 tortuous kilometers.

Jonas Vingegaard Faces a Tough Test

Jonas Vingegaard, the leader of Visma, arrives at the meeting with a disadvantage of 1:15 with Tadej Pogacar, who is expected to use all his artillery to try to isolate Vingegaard again, as happened in Galibier. Vingegaard warned, "Last year I managed seven and a half minutes in two days, so anything can happen."

A Grueling Day Ahead

A grueling day awaits the riders, under the watchful eye of the Puy de Dome, where a good breakaway could end up triumphing. There will be no time to relax in the broken profile that has been set for today. Most of the elevation gain is concentrated in the last 50 kilometers, with the climbs to Col de Néronne, Puy Mary Pas de Peyrol, Col de Pertus, and Col de Font de Cere.

Key Climb Details

  • Col de Néronne: 3.8 km at 9.1%
  • Puy Mary Pas de Peyrol: 5.4 km at 8%
  • Col de Pertus: 4.4 km at 7.9%
  • Col de Font de Cere: 3.3 km at 5.8%

The riders will face a tough test on the way to Le Lioran, with no time to relax in the broken profile of the day. Will Vingegaard be able to hold off Pogacar’s attacks, or will the Slovenian rider take the lead? Only time will tell.
