Julio Virgilio Brache asume presidencia de la AIRD y presenta retos de la industria

The businessman Julio Virgilio Brache assumes as president of the Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD) with the challenge of contributing to the development of world-class companies, strengthening public-private cooperation, promoting the circular economy and environmental sustainability, foreign trade and production chains.

Elected by consensus for the period 2023-2024, Brache indicated that it is necessary to continue working together with state institutions, society and all productive sectors to face these challenges and advance in the industrialization of the country. “We will be focused on boosting the linkage of the local manufacturing sector with the free zones, with companies in the tourism sector qualified under Confotur and with companies approved in the border development zone,” said the business leader.

Likewise, he proposed the objective of continuing to promote the digital productive chain of MSMEs with their suppliers and clients, in such a way that it is easier for small companies to become medium-sized and medium-sized companies to become large, to continue strengthening the productive ecosystem of the country, creating opportunities for all.

The vision of turning the country into an industrial power in the region requires a meeting of wills “to walk that virtuous path of confidence, productivity and development that we deserve so much,” Brache stressed.

“Being world class implies that our quality parameters are increasingly higher, that we have clear regulations that protect consumers and penalize unfair competition,” he explained. He positively valued the spaces for consultation and collaboration between the productive sector and the Government, which allows responding to the current needs of the sector and the country, but also promoting productive policies that favor the generation of employment and economic-social well-being. Brache said that he visualizes the production process as circular and that it will motivate more and more companies to join the New Life for Waste (NUVI) initiative, supporting the creation of integrated solid waste management systems. The new president of the AIRD said that the institution will be aware of foreign trade and that it will resume planning spaces for the modernization of the national productive apparatus to increase more and more exports.
