Before the film’s release, director Raj Mehta said that he was nervous as many major movies have failed at the box office in the recent past. He told PTI: ‘Every week a new theory comes out about what kind of movies will or won’t work. Some say that fashion is from great movies and others that it is not like that at all. There is a lot of uncertainty, I don’t think anyone knows what will work. Does this increase concern? Absolutely.” He added, “Because you can never be sure you’ve made a movie that’s going to do well. This is my second movie, I’m making a successful debut, so there’s pressure. But the timing is such that you don’t know what’s going to work.”
Jug Jug Jio had previously gotten into a controversy when Pakistani singer Abrar-ul-Haq had said that the song ‘The Punjaban’ from the film had been recreated from his original ‘Nach Punjaban’ without buying the legal rights to the song. . However, Varun recently said during one of his promotional interviews that the production company has bought the rights to the song.
