The Dominican Juander Santos won the silver medal in the 400-meter hurdles event at the Ibero-American Athletics Championships being held in Alicante, Spain.
Santos achieved his best time of the season with 49.74 seconds and was only surpassed by Costa Rican Gerald Drummond, who won the competition with 48.87.
The Spanish Jesús David Delgado completed the podium with 49.82 seconds, valid for third place and the bronze medal.
In the women’s event, the Dominican Evilin Del Carmen finished in sixth position with a time of 57.74, which was a new personal best.
Melissa González, from Colombia, took the gold medal with 54.87 seconds, followed by Sara Gallego, from Spain, with 55.56 and Grace Juliette Claxton, from Puerto Rico, with 55.66.
