Tenerife Recruits Young Defender Juande Rivas for 2024-25 Campaign

Juande Rivas has become the third incorporation of Tenerife for the 2024-25 campaign. The centre-back, who will turn 25 this Sunday, has left Málaga, the club he joined at the age of 13 and made his debut in the first team during the summer of 2019. Rivas will sign with the blue and whites until 2027 and his arrival will mean the departure on loan of Nikola Sipcic, possibly to another destination in Second.

This 1.85-meter defender from Córdoba has accumulated more than a hundred games of experience in the second tier of Spanish football. He stands out for his aerial play and high success rate in front of goal in the opponent’s area. Rivas has scored up to eight goals with the Málaga shirt during his incorporations into the attack in the last four seasons.

The signing of Juande is in line with the profile of young and ambitious players who are thirsty for success in professional football. The defender faces this new stage with great enthusiasm, stating that he will wear the shirt of a historic club like Tenerife and is still at an age where he can progress as a footballer.

“I face this new stage with great enthusiasm,” Rivas said in his first statements to the club’s official media. “I will wear the shirt of a historic club like Tenerife and I am still at an age where I can progress as a footballer. I don’t see a better team than this one, the one I’m joining now, to be able to achieve it.”

Rivas also recalled that it was very important for him to leave Málaga with a promotion that returned the team to professional football. He stated that his idea at Tenerife will be to give his all in every training session and every match.

Finally, Rivas predicted that the 2024-25 campaign “is going to be historic in the Second Division because there are great clubs. We now have the preseason to acquire the form and concepts that the coach wants. We are going to get a good feeling in the first training sessions and the friendlies to build a group that is capable of facing each match with the highest possible demands.”
