Portuguese club Gil Vicente faces uncertainty over the availability of key winger Joelson Fernandes for their upcoming match, even as medical assessments confirm the absence of a serious wrist fracture.
The 22-year-old is currently undergoing conditional training. He is being carefully managed by the club’s medical department.
Fernandes had exited the team’s last fixture with his arm immobilized. Initial tests have since ruled out a wrist fracture, alleviating fears of a long-term absence.
Despite this positive development, a definitive decision on his participation against Santa Clara in Barcelos will only be made immediately before the game. This leaves his status in doubt for the crucial upcoming fixture.
Joelson, a former player for Sporting, typically operates on the left wing.
Coach César Peixoto has multiple options to fill that role if Fernandes is unavailable. These players include Tidjany Touré, Agustín Moreira, Rodrigo Rodrigues, and Martín Fernández. Fernández recently scored in a match against Alverca.
