We now know a little more about the engagement of Jeff Bezos with his partner Lauren Sánchez, a 53-year-old former television journalist. Recently revealed by relatives of the couple, they were accompanied by a marriage proposal for which the American multi-billionaire did not look at the expense. He has indeed offered his bride a ring whose value has been estimated at 2.5 million dollars, reports Vanity Fair this Tuesday.
A huge diamond on a huge boat
The 2.3 million euro jewel features a white diamond with a weight that experts have assessed at 20 carats. If the specialists were able to give their opinion on the engagement ring, it is because the latter did not go unnoticed on the finger of its owner while the couple was on his yacht in the south of France. The Amazon founder and Lauren Sánchez were in the area after a stopover at the Cannes Film Festival.
The experts have also judged that the stone with which the ring is set is of superior quality. However, not everyone agrees on the value of the incredible jewel. Quoted by Page Six, Maxwell Stone, creative director of a jeweler, estimated that the solitaire cost some 3.5 million dollars, or about 3.2 million euros. “The choice of the stone and the creation (of the jewel) must have taken months,” commented Mike Fried, director of an appraisal company.
