Javed Akhtar is slated to receive the prestigious Shiksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) Sahitya Samman for 2025. This significant honor recognizes his extensive contributions to Indian cinema and literature.
The celebrated lyricist and screenwriter will be presented with the award on November 29. The ceremony is scheduled to coincide with the inauguration of a two-day literature festival.
The award package includes a cash prize of approximately $8,433, which translates to 7 lakh Indian rupees. Additionally, recipients receive a commendation citation, a silver statue of Goddess Saraswati, and a traditional shawl.
Gayatribala Panda, the director of the two-day Shiksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Literature Festival, provided details regarding the honor. She clarified that the award is bestowed annually upon Indian litterateurs. It recognizes writers whose work is in any language formally acknowledged by the Indian constitution.
