Javed Akhtar is known for speaking his mind, and he recently made headlines again with his sharp comments about Pakistan. At a recent event in Mumbai for the launch of Sanjay Raut’s book “Heaven in Hell,” Akhtar talked to ANI about the abuse he receives on social media. “If you look at my tweets, there are lots of insults,” he said. “People from both sides abuse me. Some people praise me, but it’s true that both sides insult me. The extremists on this side and that side both abuse me. That’s a fact. If either of them stopped abusing me, I’d worry that I was doing something wrong.”
Abuse from Both Sides
Akhtar shared that he gets a lot of hate from people on both sides of the political spectrum. He mentioned that some people call him names and tell him to leave for Pakistan. “Some people say I’m an infidel and will go to hell. Others say I’m a jihadi and should go to Pakistan,” he said. “If I had to choose between Pakistan and hell, I’d rather go to hell.”
