Italian Open: María Hernández Comes Close to Success

María Hernández comes close to winning the Italian Open

María Hernández was poised to claim victory at the Italian Open, a women’s European Tour event held at Golf Nazionale. However, Englishwoman Amy Taylor stole the show with her first career win.

Taylor carded a remarkable 69 in the final round to finish with a total of 206 (-10), one stroke ahead of Hernández. The latter had earlier shot a 67, missing out on victory by a solitary stroke. Hernández’s chances of a playoff were further dashed when she bogeyed the 17th hole.

Taylor ended her round with an eagle, but it ultimately proved to be a consolation prize. The elated winner attributed her victory to a pre-tournament ritual at the Trevi Fountain, where she had thrown a coin and made a silent wish. “I didn’t tell anyone, but it came true!” she exclaimed.

The Englishwoman was overwhelmed with emotion, praising the magic of Rome and expressing her gratitude for winning at Golf Nazionale. Finishing just three strokes behind Taylor were French golfer Camille Chevalier, Italian Francesca Fiorellini, and Indonesian Shannon Tan, who shared third place.
