Israel Embassy, NHA Groundbreak Accessible Friendship Playground Nonthaburi

A new chapter in community spirit and global partnership recently opened in the heart of Nonthaburi Province. On a bright September 9, 2025, a groundbreaking ceremony marked the start of something special: the “Israel-Thailand Friendship Playground.” This isn’t just any playground; it’s designed to be welcoming for every child, a beacon of inclusivity for the Baan Eua Arthorn Bang Yai (Wat Phra Ngoen) community.

This thoughtful project springs from a joint effort between the Embassy of Israel to Thailand and the National Housing Authority. It’s set to become the very first accessible playground in Nonthaburi, offering a safe and fun space for all children. The Baan Eua Arthorn Bang Yai community, managed by the National Housing Authority, is home to about 7,000 people. Among them are roughly 1,500 children and young people who will soon enjoy this new 360-square-meter play area. The Israeli Embassy is generously providing all the play equipment and will oversee its installation.

Israel is well-known as a “Startup Nation,” celebrated for its fresh ideas and its leadership in making things inclusive for everyone, including those with disabilities. The folks behind this project believe that every child, regardless of ability, deserves the same chance to play and have fun with their friends. This playground will offer that equal opportunity in a friendly setting for all community members. It also stands as a warm symbol of the deep friendship between the governments and people of Israel and Thailand.

The ceremony brought together important figures and community members. Mr. Tawipong Wichaidit, the Governor of the National Housing Authority, joined Dr. Veerasak Kowsurat, an Accessibility Ambassador, and Mr. Krisana Lalai, who leads the Accessibility for All Foundation. They all witnessed the event, alongside many residents from Baan Eua Arthorn Bang Yai, creating a truly warm atmosphere.

Ambassador Orna Sagiv of Israel to Thailand spoke at the event, sharing her hopes for the project. “This playground aims to create a place where kids and families can easily come together,” she said. “It’s the first playground for everyone in Nonthaburi, and I truly hope it sets an example. We want to see more safe play areas like this built in communities all across the country. It will certainly improve the lives of young people and the surrounding community.” Her words painted a picture of brighter futures for children and stronger bonds between nations.
