Ishaan Khattar: Critically Acclaimed ‘Homebound’ Is Not a Flop, Will Endure

Ishaan Khattar recently addressed the box office performance of his latest film, “Homebound.” The actor asserted he does not consider the movie a failure despite its commercial struggles.

“Homebound,” directed by National Award-winner Neeraj Ghaywan, received widespread international acclaim. It was praised at numerous film festivals and was also India’s official entry for the Oscars.

Despite this critical success, the film did not perform well at the box office. Khattar, however, believes the film will be remembered for a long time.

The actor stated he is not denying the box office figures, as he is well aware of them. His primary hope is for the film to reach the widest possible audience. He is committed to ensuring its broad visibility.

Khattar also expressed a belief that a time will come when films like “Homebound” will earn as much as major blockbusters. This shift, he suggests, would create an environment for more such films to thrive. He noted that audience cooperation is essential for this change.

“Homebound” is based on a true story involving two migrant workers during the COVID-19 lockdown. The narrative explores the childhood friendship of a Muslim and a Dalit character. They aspire to join the police force, hoping the job will bring them the respect they have long lacked due to their backgrounds.

Dharma Productions produced the film. Ishaan Khattar, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor star in the lead roles.
