Ever since the inception of the Bitcoin (BTC) network, it is unknown who was responsible for creating this network. All we know is that the founder is known by the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. Who is hiding behind this name is still a mystery. However, this week there were rumors that Tesla CEO and richest man in the world Elon Musk might have something to do with this.
Is Elon Musk the founder of Bitcoin?
That Elon Musk is the person behind Satoshi Nakamoto was argued by a former intern at SpaceX, which is of course also a company of Musk. This intern, Sahil Gupta, is a firm believer that Musk is the creator of the Bitcoin network.
While this theory is not new, Gupta makes a fascinating comparison of the similarities between Nakamoto and Musk that brought this theory back to life within the crypto community. Gupta shared his findings of BeiInCrypto.
“A few years ago, I wondered if Musk might be able to write Bitcoin’s source code. Then I realized that he actually is. Musk wrote the software for his first companies, Zip2 and X.com, which literally specialized in peer-to-peer payments. X.com’s source code was written in C++ and was described as “monolithic”. So was Bitcoin’s.”
In addition, both Nakamoto and Musk used the same terms when they wrote pieces, for example on an internet forum. According to Gupta, the similarities are so strong that he strongly suspected that it might be the same person.
Elon Musk denies
Gupta says that while there is no direct evidence that Musk is Satoshi, there is a tsunami of circumstantial evidence. He said it is “the rare intersection of geographic location, technical ability, writing style and motivational philosophy”.
Musk himself has already in 2017 denied that he has something to do with the origin of the Bitcoin network. Whether Gupta is on the right track here is of course also debatable. Nevertheless, the theory seems that Elon Musk is the person behind the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto is reviving within the crypto community.
