Iran, Saudi foreign ministers agree to meet in Ramadan

After the restoration of diplomatic relations between the two major Muslim countries, Saudi Arabia and Iran, after mediation by China, the foreign ministers of the two countries have agreed to meet in the month of Ramadan.

British news agencies Reuters Citing Saudi Arabia’s official news agency SPA, he said that Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud called his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir Abdullah and the two leaders agreed to meet soon.

According to SPA, this is the second time the foreign ministers of the two countries have had a telephone conversation in a few days.

According to the Saudi official news agency, the foreign ministers of the two countries discussed several issues in the light of the agreement brokered by China during the talks. The foreign ministers have also agreed on bilateral talks in the month of Ramadan itself.

It should be remembered that Saudi Arabia, Iran signed an agreement on March 11 to restore diplomatic relations mediated by China. Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani and Saudi Arabia’s National Security Adviser Mosaad bin Mohammad Al-Aiban signed the agreement in the presence of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

It should be noted that the decision to restore diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran, which had been severed for seven years, has brought mixed reactions from different countries of the world.

It should be noted that Saudi Arabia severed relations with Iran after the attack on the embassy in Tehran in 2016. Earlier, Riyadh executed Shia cleric Nimr Baqir al-Nimr, which was condemned by Iran.
