IPL 2025: Digvijay Singh Fined and Banned for Misconduct

The heat was on at the Ekana Cricket Stadium as Abhishek Sharma and Digvijay Singh Rathi got into a heated argument during the 61st match of IPL 2025. The tension was palpable as the two players faced off, their anger and frustration boiling over. It all started when Digvijay celebrated his dismissal of Abhishek with a notebook-style gesture, which didn’t sit well with the latter. Luckily, the situation was diffused by the umpires and other players, but not before things got pretty intense.

The incident has landed both players in trouble with the BCCI. Digvijay, in particular, has been handed a severe penalty – a 50% fine of his match fee and two demerit points. This is his third level 1 offense of the season, and he now has a total of five demerit points. As a result, he’ll be suspended for the next match.

This means Digvijay will miss Lucknow Super Giants’ next game against Gujarat Titans on May 22. For Abhishek, it’s a 25% fine of his match fee and one demerit point for his first level 1 offense of the season.

Punishment Details

The BCCI has made it clear that they won’t tolerate any misbehavior on the field. With the season nearing its end, players need to keep their cool and focus on the game. As one fan tweeted, “Some people have attitude without any reason, and Digvijay Rathi is one of them.”

The incident has sparked a lot of debate on social media, with fans weighing in on the punishments handed out to the players. While some feel that Digvijay’s suspension is harsh, others think it’s necessary to maintain discipline in the game. One thing’s for sure – the players will have to be on their best behavior from now on.
