IPL 2022 will be organized in India, 10 teams will participate and 74 matches will be played in total

The next season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be played in India itself. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah gave this information. Apart from this, Shah also welcomed two new franchises, Lucknow and Ahmedabad. Let us tell you that due to the Corona epidemic, the entire season of IPL 2020 and 31 matches of IPL 2021 were played in the United Arab Emirates.

During an event in Chennai, Jay Shah said: “I know everyone is looking forward to seeing CSK play in Chepauk. That time is not far off and IPL season 15 will be in India and new teams will be included. It will make it more exciting.”

He added: “We have a great auction for the IPL, so it will be interesting to see how the players and the team look like in the new combination.”

Significantly, BCCI has already made it clear that there will be a total of 74 matches at IPL 2022. Previously, a total of 60 matches were played at IPL 2021 between eight teams. In such a situation, there will be 14 more games in the next season than before.

In IPL 2022 as well, each team will play 14 games during the league, with seven home games and seven away games. There is no increase in the number of matches for each team.

Last month, RPSG Group and CVC Capital acquired the property rights to two new IPL franchises. RPSG Group bought the Lucknow-based franchise for Rs 7,090 crore. At the same time, CVC Capital bought the Ahmedabad franchise for Rs 5,166 crore. This will be the first time since 2011, when 10 teams will be seen playing in the league.
