Sporting CP forward Fotis Ioannidis expressed growing confidence and improved team chemistry following a dominant five-goal victory that also saw promising young players make significant debuts.
Ioannidis, a Greek international, highlighted his increasing comfort on the pitch after contributing an assist and scoring what was described as the “goal of the night” during the team’s impressive performance.
“I’m starting to feel better and better on the field,” Ioannidis told Sporting TV. “I feel like I’m improving and getting to know my teammates better.”
The forward’s comments came after Sporting secured a five-goal win, which he emphasized was crucial for the team’s confidence. “The game went well for us. We had the opportunities we needed and scored 5 goals,” he noted.
The match also marked a memorable debut for young player Blopa, who scored twice, including the opening goal with an assist from Ioannidis.
Ioannidis offered strong praise for the club’s new talents. “It was fantastic from all of them. They made their debut, all these youngsters, they deserve the best,” he said.
He added that the young players “were very good tonight, they helped us a lot. They have to continue working like this and I think the future is bright for them.”
The former Panathinaikos striker reiterated his primary focus is on team success. “This is my goal, not just scoring. The most important thing for me is that the team wins. If we win, the goals will appear.”
