The Indian cricket team is undergoing a major shakeup in its support staff, with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) making significant changes.
As per reports, assistant coach Abhishek Nair is among three staff members who have been let go, including a fitness trainer whose annual salary was reportedly in the crores.
The BCCI has a comprehensive system for compensating its players and staff.
The board categorizes male cricketers into four groups: A+, A, B, and C, with corresponding annual salaries of ₹7 crore, ₹5 crore, ₹3 crore, and ₹1 crore, respectively.
Players in category A+ include top performers like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
In addition to their annual contracts, players also receive match fees.
Coaching Staff Salaries
Gautam Gambhir currently heads the Indian cricket team as its coach, earning an annual salary of around ₹12 crore.
The BCCI determines the salaries of the head coach and other support staff, which can vary based on experience and role.
Other key coaching positions and their annual salaries are:
- Batting coach: ₹3-4 crore
- Bowling coach: ₹3-4 crore
- Fielding coach: ₹3-4 crore
The salaries for trainers and physiotherapists range from ₹1.5 crore to ₹2 crore annually.
Meanwhile, video analysts and other technical staff members receive between ₹50 lakh and ₹1 crore per year.
