India A declares second innings at 417, sets England Lions 439-run target

The India-A and England Lions match has reached a critical point. India-A declared their second innings at 417 runs, setting a massive target of 439 runs for England Lions in the fourth innings. Four Indian batsmen scored half-centuries, with young Tanush Kotian leading the pack. He remained unbeaten at 90 runs, but the team management declared the innings before he could reach his century.

On the third day, India-A had scored 163 runs for the loss of four wickets. They resumed their innings on the fourth day from the same score. Dhruv Jurel and Nitish Reddy put up a 46-run partnership, but Jurel, who had already scored three half-centuries in the series, managed only 28 runs this time. India-A lost their sixth wicket at 253 runs when Nitish Reddy was dismissed for 42 runs. Soon after, Shardul Thakur was bowled out for 34 runs.

The Indian team was struggling at 268 runs with seven wickets down, but Tanush Kotian and Anshul Kambodh turned the tables with their impressive batting. Tanush Kotian scored 90 runs off 108 balls and remained unbeaten, while Anshul Kambodh scored 51 runs. They put up a fantastic 150-run partnership, but the Indian team declared their innings before Tanush could complete his century. England used eight bowlers, with George Hill taking the most wickets at three. Chris Woakes and Edie Jack took two wickets each.

In India-A’s second innings, KL Rahul scored 51 runs, while captain Abhimanyu Easwaran scored 80 runs. Easwaran had not played a big innings in the series so far. Notably, KL Rahul had scored 104 runs in the first innings of this match.
