Imam-ul-Haq Retires Hurt After Jaw Injury in PAK vs NZ ODI

Pakistan’s chase for 265 runs against New Zealand took a hit when opener Imam ul Haq got hurt. He tried to run but a throw hit his helmet. The ball went inside his helmet and hit his jaw. He dropped his bat and took off his helmet. Imam ul Haq was in pain.

Imam ul Haq and Abdullah Shafique started Pakistan’s chase. In the third over, a throw hit Imam ul Haq’s helmet. The medical team came to check on him. They took him off the field in an ambulance.

What happened next

The Pakistan team chose Usman Khan as Imam ul Haq’s concussion substitute. When a ball hits a player’s helmet or head, the medical team checks them. They even change the helmet if the player is okay. If the player can’t play safely, the team asks for a substitute.

New Zealand made 264 runs batting first. They already won the series by winning the second ODI. Before this, New Zealand beat Pakistan 4-1 in a 5-match T20 series.
