BCCI Fines Glenn Maxwell for Breaching IPL Code of Conduct

Glen Maxwell’s actions during the Punjab Kings’ match against Chennai Super Kings didn’t go unnoticed. The all-rounder breached the IPL code of conduct, resulting in a 25% fine of his match fee and a demerit point. Maxwell accepted the Level 1 offense under Article 2.2, which involves the misuse of equipment or fixtures during a match.

The Punjab Kings took home the win, beating Chennai Super Kings by 18 runs. Priyansh Arya’s impressive 103 runs off 42 balls earned him the Player of the Match title. Maxwell’s performance with the bat has been underwhelming so far in the IPL 2025 season, with only 31 runs in 3 innings. However, he’s made a more significant impact with the ball, taking 3 wickets in the tournament.

The BCCI’s official statement confirmed the penalty, stating that Maxwell’s actions were in violation of the IPL code of conduct. The match referee’s decision is final and binding in such cases. Maxwell’s teammate, Priyansh Arya, stole the show with his century, helping the Punjab Kings secure their third win of the season. Under Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy, the team has had a strong start, with 3 wins out of 4 matches, placing them fourth in the standings.
