‘If you don’t want to play Test cricket then…’ Australian legend’s statement on Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah, who has been out of the India squad for a long time, can be seen in the last two Border-Gavaskar Trophy test matches beginning against Australia. He started practicing bowling in the NCA. Even before this, Bumrah has returned to the team twice in the last 6 months, but withdrew his name both times due to him not being fully fit. Now, the former Australian bowler has commented on these decisions by Bumrah and his future.

Former Australian fast bowler Jeff Thomson has said that Bumrah now first needs to figure out which format of cricket he wants to prefer. Thomson has said: ‘Bumrah has to figure out what he wants to play, short form cricket or Test cricket or he wants to take the field in all formats. I think if he was playing cricket in the current era, it would have been very difficult for me to play Test cricket. Especially since you are making more money in short form cricket and you can prolong your career with this.

Thomson also says that whatever decision Bumrah makes and whatever format he plays, the fans would love to see him because he is a wonderful bowler. Thomson says: ‘I think cricket fans determine a lot. He knows what a great bowler Bumrah is. If he doesn’t want to play Test Cricket, it will definitely be a big blow to the fans, but as long as he plays T20, the fans would like to see him. I just want to say here that if a player sticks to the shortest format of cricket then his career can be very long.
