Preparations for the upcoming IPL season are in full swing right now. The mega player auction will take place next month and then the picture of all the teams will also be cleared up. Currently, the biggest question is whether IPL 2022 will be played at home or hosted abroad. Recently, the BCCI had indicated that the idea of organizing the event in the country is underway. But given the Kovid-19 situation, it looks very difficult.
Meanwhile, Cricket South Africa (CSA) has submitted a proposal to host the tournament to the BCCI. Due to Kovid, the last 2 seasons were played in the United Arab Emirates. But BCCI is now looking at other options. Talks are reportedly taking place between the BCCI and the South African Cricket Board. If this tournament is not hosted in India, Africa is expected to host. Previously, this league was organized in South Africa due to the 2009 general election. South Africa may prove to be a cheaper option for this tournament than the United Arab Emirates.
If the IPL is hosted in South Africa, the match schedule will also change. Most of the matches were played in the United Arab Emirates from 7:30 pm, while the doubleheader matches started at 3:30 pm But in South Africa this time will change. According to reports, the matches will be able to start from 4:00 pm India time. This will happen due to the time difference between the two countries. At present, the BCCI has not officially said anything about it. But soon the picture can become clear.
The next IPL season is going to be special in many ways, because this time there will be 10 teams participating in the tournament and 74 matches will be played. Teams from Lucknow and Ahmedabad will join the IPL. Aside from this, most teams will enter the field with new captains and new players.
