Bollywood newcomer Ibrahim Ali Khan, son of actor Saif Ali Khan, has candidly addressed the widespread criticism of his debut film, “Nadaniyan.” The actor admitted the film was “very bad” in a recent interview.
“Nadaniyan” premiered on Netflix and featured Khushi Kapoor in a key role. The film was largely panned by audiences and critics alike upon its release.
Khan shared his reflections during an interview with Esquire India. He noted a significant shift in public perception after the film’s poor reception.
He recounted facing continuous trolling. Comments like, “He just won’t be able to do it,” became common, he said.
Khan described the period as challenging, stating, “It was very bad and I constantly felt bad about it.” He directly acknowledged the film’s quality. “I’ll just say it was a really, really bad film,” he added.
The actor also touched on the nature of the online backlash. He observed that some people joined the trolling simply because others were doing it.
While acknowledging this perceived unfairness, he expressed a desire for similar passionate engagement in the future. “If I deliver a blockbuster film in the future, I would want the same kind of reaction,” he stated.
Khan reflected on his early start in the film, which he felt was rushed. He began shooting “Nadaniyan” at the age of 21.
He compared his timeline to peers who started their careers later, often in their mid to late twenties. Khan also shared that he is actively working on his speech issues.
He concluded that he wished he had been more aware of the scale of the commitment at the time. “Now I feel I could’ve been a lot more conscious about the scale of what was about to happen,” he explained.
