Midfielder for Celtic, Hugo Álvarez, is heading into a brief three week break from the sport, after suffering a sprain in the medial collateral ligament of the right knee. With recovery already in progress, Álvarez’s team will commence therapy treatments. Last Saturday he was injured against Betis. After his injury, he was substituted during this particular match.
Álvarez had notably only participated in one league match throughout this current season and was due to accumulation of reprimands. He had contributed significantly to his team’s performance, scoring four goals and delivering two assists in the league thus far.
Claus Giráldez will face the Atlético de Madrid game in three weeks, and Osasuna this weekend without Alvarez and Cervi, also due to injury. Turns out, some sources claim that César Franchín’s availability will also be called into question after the veteran suffered a knee injury during Celtic’s draw with WDC Betis last weekend. It remains uncertain whether Álverez will be available for the Girona match in the first week of March. He will also be missed in the Baleares game later this month.
