Huawei presented its latest technology dedicated to electric vehicles at the Munich International Automobile Exhibition dedicated to the automotive world, in Germany. There, we learned about AR HUD technology that brings augmented reality to the windshield of electric cars.
It is an advanced system that will make cars not only smarter but also “user friendly”. According to her, the goal is to turn the entire windshield into a smart screen with content presented on the glass.
The new Huawei AR HUD was presented in Germany
With the promise of turning the windshield into a smart display, AR HUD technology wants to provide an interactive and informative interface in the car window. To this end, the front window will now display contextual information such as speed and other visual alerts, much like what happens, for example, in modern military aircraft.
In vehicles with this implementation, the presentation of information will be of great help to the driver. To this end, Huawei has been creating new technologies, especially for implementation in autonomous electric and electric vehicles in recent years.
In fact, this is one of the new investment and innovation vectors for Huawei, a technology company that aims to support the automotive sector with its technologies. This commitment was made at the beginning of the year and therefore continues to bear fruit.
Turn your car’s windshield into a smart screen

Huawei aims to create tools that automakers can integrate into their products. The objective is thus to improve the driving experience, developing new tools such as the AR HUD thanks to augmented reality.
This new system from Huawei also offers a particularly wide viewing angle of 13 ° x 5 °. This translates to a maximum area of 70 inches in which information can be projected, or about 7.5 meters immediately ahead.
The technology wants to keep the driver’s view clear, free from distractions, but with more information to display behind the wheel. Among the data that the AR HUD will display are speed, navigation, number of lanes, weather information, average distance to the vehicle in front, as well as navigation aids at night and / or in poor visibility.
Contextual information without distracting the user with AR HUD

The system presented here aims to ensure not only the safety of the driver, but also that of the passengers. According to Huawei, this HUD will have a high resolution, reaching the Full-HD 1080p standard, without suffering from optical aberrations or other problems.
That is, you can view the information even during the day with the sun shining on the windshield. Huawei guarantees that the system will not be affected by problems such as low resolution, low contrast and imperfections in the presentation of the image.
Finally, we now have to wait for automakers to adopt this system before we can see its practical application and capabilities in the real world. However, it is a noteworthy technology that reveals Huawei’s potential in this field.
