Honor Launches Magic8 Series: AI Button, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, From $621

Honor has unveiled its new Magic8 and Magic8 Pro flagship smartphones in China, featuring a dedicated physical button for quick AI access and an advanced AI agent, signaling a significant push into artificial intelligence integration. The devices are powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, boasting processing speeds up to 4.60 GHz.

The inclusion of a quick-access AI button highlights a growing trend among smartphone manufacturers to embed AI functions directly into user interaction. Both models also feature Honor’s “Yoyo” AI Agent, designed for automated tasks.

The premium Magic8 Pro model offers a 6.71-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1256 x 2808 pixels and a 120 Hz refresh rate. It achieves a peak brightness of 6,000 Nits and includes a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor embedded in the screen. A 50-megapixel selfie camera is paired with a 3D depth sensor for facial recognition unlock.

Its rear camera system is robust, featuring a 50-megapixel main sensor with optical image stabilization. A 200-megapixel zoom lens provides 3.7x optical zoom, complemented by a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens offering a 122-degree field of view.

The Magic8 Pro is equipped with a substantial 7,200 mAh battery in China, while European versions will ship with a 6,270 mAh capacity. Both support 100 W wired fast charging and 80 W wireless charging. The device is also built for durability, rated IP68/IP69/IP69K for water and impact resistance.

Honor Magic8 Pro

Honor’s standard Magic8 model features a slightly smaller 6.58-inch OLED display but retains the AI button and “Yoyo” AI Agent. It includes a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS, a 64-megapixel zoom lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens. The front camera is 50-megapixel but lacks the 3D depth sensor of the Pro version.

The Magic8 runs on a 7,000 mAh battery, supporting 90 W wired fast charging and 80 W wireless charging. Both phones operate on MagicOS 10 and will be available in Sunrise Gold, Sky Cyan, and Black color options.

Pricing for the Magic8 Pro starts at approximately $780 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration, reaching around $916 for the 16GB RAM and 1TB storage variant. The Magic8 begins at roughly $616 for 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, topping out at about $752 for 16GB RAM and 1TB storage.

Both the Magic8 and Magic8 Pro are slated for release on October 23, 2025.
