Understanding the Hoy No Circula Program
The Hoy No Circula program is a traffic management system implemented in the Metropolitan Area of the Valley of Mexico to reduce air pollution. The program restricts the circulation of vehicles based on their license plate number and hologram sticker.
How the Program Works
The program operates from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. in the 18 municipalities of the State of Mexico and the 16 municipalities of Mexico City. Vehicles with holograms 1 and 2 are restricted from circulating on certain days of the week and Saturdays, depending on their license plate number.
Restrictions for Holograms 1 and 2
Vehicles with hologram 1 are restricted from circulating on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, depending on their license plate number. They are also restricted from circulating on certain Saturdays, depending on whether their license plate number is odd or even.
Vehicles with hologram 2 are restricted from circulating on all Saturdays.
Importance of Vehicle Maintenance
To improve the hologram and have more freedom of movement, vehicle owners must keep their vehicles well-maintained. This includes regular tune-ups, oil changes, and other necessary repairs.
