Rapidus CEO Reveals Talks with Apple and Google on Chip Production

Rapidus, Japan’s chip giant, is in talks with big names like Apple and Google to produce advanced chips on a massive scale by 2027. Atsuyoshi Koike, the CEO, says they’re making progress.
Their chip-making process started partially on April 1 at a factory in Hokkaido. Full production is set to begin this month.
Koike didn’t name specific clients, but mentioned Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon, and Microsoft as potential customers.
The US-China tension is driving demand for new chip sellers, Koike says. Although Rapidus lags behind TSMC in 2nm chip production, he’s confident they can catch up.
Japan plans to invest 200 billion yen in Rapidus this year, starting from April, to help the company reach commercial production goals by 2027.
