If you live in Azcapotzalco, Cuauhtémoc, Benito Juárez, Gustavo A. Madero, Iztacalco, or Venustiano Carranza, be careful. The rain might be heavy. There could be hail.
Stay Home
Myriam Urzúa, the head of the Secretary of Integral Risk Management and Civil Protection, says stay home. Only go out if you have to. The rain will be strong. There will be thunder and lightning. The wind will blow hard.
The Metro is being careful. Trains are going slower. This means your trip might take longer. Plan ahead. Leave early.
Be Safe
When it rains, be careful. Don’t go near electric poles or cables. You might get electrocuted. Don’t park under trees or weak walls. They might fall.
If you have to go out, bring an umbrella. Wear a raincoat. Clear the drains. Don’t throw trash or grease down them. It will clog them.
If you see flooded streets, don’t drive through them. It’s not safe. The water might be hiding dangers.
Other Areas
Some areas are under a yellow alert. These areas are Álvaro Obregón, Cuajimalpa, Coyoacán, Iztapalapa, Miguel Hidalgo, Magdalena Contreras, Milpa Alta, Tlalpan, Tláhuac, and Xochimilco. The rain won’t be as heavy, but it can still cause problems.
There might be small floods. Traffic might be slow. Be careful. Listen to the authorities.
The city has a plan to respond to the rain. It’s called “Tlaloque 2025”. It helps the city react quickly to emergencies.
