Drawstring (Haute-Savoie)facing Mont-Blanc at an altitude of 871 metres, a team of scientists is installing a micro-sensor to measure air quality in real time. “The characterization of these particles will allow us to determine the source of the particles”says Malika Sudahead of air quality studies at Cerema Hauts de France. Fine particle pollution is already known at the bottom of the valley, but has never been measured at altitude.
The operation lasts a year
On the initiative of the community of municipalities, ten micro-sensors are installed on the territory, at different levels. The objective is to refine the data to better fight against pollutants. “Maybe we’ll have a true picture of what’s going on down there, especially the fine particles due to biomass, wood heating“, explains Raphael Casteramayor of Passy (Haute-Savoie). These measures will last for one year.
