A brazen attack in broad daylight has shaken Mexico City. A gunman on a motorcycle opened fire, killing two high-ranking officials: the personal secretary and an advisor to the city’s mayor. The shooting occurred on Paseo de la Reforma, a major street that cuts through the heart of the city.
Mayor Clara Brugada condemned the attack, calling it a direct assault on her administration. She vowed that those responsible would face punishment, saying “there will be no impunity.” An investigation is underway, with authorities reviewing security footage to identify the perpetrator.

He promised that the attack would not go unpunished, saying “we will not allow this cowardly attack to go without consequences.” Garcia Harfuch himself was the target of an assassination attempt in 2020, when he was ambushed by a gang in the city. He survived the attack, which killed three others.
