Guerrero Jr. homers in Toronto’s loss to the Twins

Jose Miranda and Kyle Garlick each had two homers, Byron Buxton added another homer and the Minnesota Twins beat the Toronto Blue Jays 9-3 on Friday night to snap an eight-game winning streak.

Jharel Cotton (1-1) and four relievers combined to go six innings without giving up a hit after Chi Chi Gonzalez started.

The Twins came out of a three-game losing slump. They had lost seven of their previous 10 duels.

George Springer and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. each hit solo homers, but the Blue Jays lost for the fourth time in 16 games.

Garlick hit a two-run homer in the first inning and added a solo shot in the third. Both hits came off Yusei Kikuchi (2-2).

Miranda hit a solo homer off Kikuchi in the second and a two-run homer off Trevor Richards in the sixth.

For the Twins, the Dominicans Jorge Polanco 5-1 with a run scored, Gary Sánchez 4-1. Colombian Gio Urshela 2-1. Venezuelans Luis Arráez 2-1 with a run scored and an RBI, Jermine Palacios 3-0 with a run scored. Puerto Rican Miranda 4-2 with two runs scored and three produced.

For the Blue Jays, the Dominicans Guerrero 4-1 with a run scored and an RBI, Teoscar Hernández 4-1 with an RBI, Raimel Tapia 4-0, Santiago Espinal 2-0. Cuban Lourdes Gurriel Jr. 4-0.
