Greta Thunberg: in one of the first “Vogue Scandinavia”, the activist denounces the fashion industry

At the foot of a tree and stroking a horse, Swedish activist Greta Thunberg appears on the cover of the first issue of Vogue Scandinavia, published on the occasion of the publication of the new and sixth IPCC report on the climate situation.

On her Twitter account, Greta Thunberg published the cover of the magazine with a caption that allows the activist to alert her followers to the consequences of fashion. Criticize fast fashion in particular. Namely: the monthly or even weekly renewal of clothing collections.

“If you buy fast fashion (fast fashion, editor’s note), you are contributing to this industry and encouraging it to develop and continue its damaging process,” explains Greta Thunberg. Adding that “the fashion industry contributes enormously to the climate and ecological problem, not to mention its impact on the countless workers and communities that are exploited around the world so that some can enjoy fast fashion that many treat as disposable products.”

For her part, the 18-year-old activist explains that she has not bought clothes for three years and assures that her last purchase was second-hand. And sometimes “I just borrow things from people I know,” he explains.

Published on August 8, this new magazine was launched with a stated goal, that of sustainable development. Therefore, the editorial team made a commitment to be carbon neutral from the launch of the first issue.
