Govinda Apologizes: Public Sides With Wife Over Priest’s Alleged $2,400 Fee

Bollywood actor Govinda has issued a public apology following controversial statements made by his wife, Sunita Ahuja. The comments, which criticized their family priest, sparked online discussion.

Sunita Ahuja recently appeared on Paras Chhabra’s podcast. She discussed her husband’s extensive reliance on astrologers and priests.

During the podcast, Sunita stated that their family priest charges 200,000 Indian Rupees for religious ceremonies. This amount is approximately $2,400 USD.

She expressed skepticism about such practices, advising Govinda to pray himself. Sunita believes personal prayers are more effective than paid rituals.

In response, Govinda released a video statement on social media. He publicly apologized to his priest, Mukesh Shukla, for his wife’s “abusive words.”

The actor strongly condemned Sunita’s statement. He described Mukesh Shukla as a “competent, authentic, and virtuous” priest from Uttar Pradesh, skilled in ritual methods.

Govinda emphasized his family’s long-standing connection with Shukla’s father, Jatahari Ji. He credited the priest and the Brahmin community for assisting them during difficult periods.

He concluded his video by requesting their continued blessings.
