Google has introduced a new feature to help users monitor their personal data on the dark web, a part of the Internet where users can hide their identity and location from others. The dark web can be used to sell stolen personal information, according to sources.
New Function Available to All Users
The feature was previously available only to users with a subscription to Google One, but Google plans to make it accessible to all users. The tool detects evidence of leaked personal data, emails, or phone numbers and informs users of the issue, providing instructions on how to protect this data.
Expanded Reach to 46 Countries
Google has expanded the feature to 46 countries, including Spain. The tool is designed to help users locate sensitive data that may have been stolen, including:
- Name
- Postal address
- Phone number
- Username
- Password
Limited Features for Google One Subscribers
Only users with a Google One subscription will have access to certain advanced features, such as constant monitoring. Google Workspace accounts and supervised accounts will not be eligible for these features.
