Google introduces new shopping features to its search engine

Google has announced new features for your browser in the mobile version, with the aim of helping users in their shopping experiences.

“We believe that the opportunity to improve the shopping experience is enormous. And we are building the tools to make those shopping moments more natural, intuitive and fun”has assured Lilian Rincon, Senior Director of Product and Buying at Google.

Among the novelties, as reported by the company at its annual event Search On 2022highlights the extension of your 3D image editor for the footwear category that at the beginning of the year launched the technology firm in its search engine.

Specifically, the tool 3D Shopping for footwear allows retailers display 3D versions of your articles just by uploading a certain number of flat images, which can increase the conversion rate.

As they have emphasized since Google, “Users interact up to 50% more with this type of images”.

It will also be possible that, when searching for an item, buyers will receive personalized results based on your previous purchases and buying habits.

This functionality may be deactivated by them and, for the time being, it will be available for the US market at the end of the year as well as the possibility of searching for a product by voice and receiving clothing recommendations to copy a style.

As pointed out Corner, “The new purchase functionalities are due to the advances made with its Shopping Graph, the model based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) developed by the Mountain View firm, and that is capable of understanding more than 35,000 million product lists, 46% more than what was understood a year ago”.

New shopping features in Google Search

  • Simplified audio purchase: US users can use Google’s audio search tool by saying ‘shop’ in combination with a product. In response, they will be taken to a visual feed of products and will also be shown the real-time product availability in stores located near them. At the moment, it is only available on mobile, but it will be available on desktop soon.
  • Shoppable Looks: Users can say ‘shop the look’ when they see an outfit they like. In response, Google will display images of similar styles associated with online stores where consumers can shop.
  • Fashion products section: Google will include a new section in search showing popular products that are trending.
  • 3D shopping for sneakers: Following the debut of 3D home shopping on Google Search earlier this year, the tech company is rolling out its 3D technology for shoes, with 360 degree visual rotations.
  • Buying Guides: This feature is currently only available in the United States.
  • Page Insights: It gives buyers an approximation of what other consumers think. Available in the Google app, the tool creates visible star ratings for a page or product the user is viewing – all within the same interface. Also notify users about price changes.
  • Custom results: Google Search will soon show userss more purchase results based on your previous purchases and buying habits. Users will have the control to set their preferences or disable the functionality entirely. The update will be available to US users later this year.
  • New filters: At the top of the results, users will see options to filter from a range of options, including styles, price range, or whether or not it’s available at nearby stores. The new filters adapt in real time and are based on user behavior. Available in the US, India and Japan.
  • New discovery tools: will appear new recommended products in the Discover section from the Google app. Here, users will see suggested products based on previous buying habits and the habits that others like. They can tap on the image and then use Google Lens to find out where to buy them.
