Google AI Reaches Play Store with App Inquiry Feature

Google’s AI is taking over new spaces, and that makes it more interesting and important. This help can still surprise, and Google takes advantage of it to create spaces where AI is available. The latest is the Play Store, where Gemini can now help users learn more about apps or games they come across.

Google’s AI lands on the Play Store

Google has been applying new guidelines to the Play Store, eliminating almost 1.4 million applications in under a year. Now, they’re launching a new feature called “Ask Play about this app” with AI technology. This feature was previously spotted in an Android Authority APK analysis and is now available in version 46.1.39-31 of the Google Play Store. It’s the complete integration of Google’s AI into the Android store.

The new feature includes a “Ask Play about this app” button, allowing users to ask specific questions within the Play Store itself. This means users won’t even need to leave the store to clarify any doubts or resolve issues.

Asking Gemini about apps and games

The “Ask Play about this app” button appears below the install button. Tapping on it lets users ask any question, and after responding, a section of suggested questions appears for Gemini to answer immediately.

One important thing to note about this new AI experience in the Google Play Store is that it doesn’t always give the right answer. Sometimes, it provides the wrong answer or simply doesn’t respond.

It’s not new that AI chatbots “make up” or respond to certain questions to help users. This makes it more common, especially in new applications, for Gemini not to respond. Google’s AI hasn’t appeared in most apps in many countries, and it apparently hasn’t spread to the most installed applications yet. It’s available in many apps, but not all of them.
