Gonzalo García Renews Real Madrid Contract to 2030, Promoted to First Team

Young Gonzalo García is making big moves at Real Madrid. The talented forward just signed a new contract, locking him in with the club until June 2030. That’s a five-season deal, showing how much faith Real Madrid has in him. Even bigger news: he’s now officially part of the first-team squad.

This promotion comes after García really shined in the revamped Club World Cup. He proved he could step up when it mattered most. Real Madrid confirmed the news in a statement. They said he’ll be tied to the club for the next five years.

García, who is 21, has spent his entire youth career with Real Madrid. He first played for the senior team in the 2023/24 season. That year, he helped them win the Spanish league title. In his ten senior matches last season, he scored five goals and made two assists. He also played a lot for the club’s second team, a side in the third national tier. There, he netted an impressive 24 goals in 36 games.

His big moment truly arrived at the Club World Cup in the United States. New coach Xabi Alonso brought García into the squad. He filled a huge void left by Kylian Mbappé, who was in the hospital for half the tournament. Mbappé suffered from a bad stomach illness. García stepped into the spotlight and delivered. He became one of the top scorers in the competition. He bagged four goals in just six matches.

García even walked away with the top scorer award for the tournament. He had one assist, which was the tie-breaker. Other players who scored as many goals but had no assists included Argentina’s Ángel Di María, who was then with Benfica and is now at Rosario Central. Also on that list were Serhou Guirassy from Guinea, playing for Borussia Dortmund, and Brazil’s Marcos Leonardo, who moved to Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal after a spell at Benfica.

Real Madrid’s journey in the Club World Cup ended in the semi-finals. They lost 4-0 to Paris Saint-Germain. PSG was the four-time French champion and also held the European title. Overall, Real Madrid’s 2024/25 season saw them win two out of seven possible trophies. They lifted the European Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup.
