Now, another Madrid team, Getafe, has taken advantage of a streamer video to make its own joke. Ibai recently posted an Instagram video where he’s shown shaving his beard, something that’s been a long time coming for his fans. The blue team decided to upload the video to their X account with the text “The change is crazy, @ibaillanos”, showing the beginning of the same video of the content creator. At first, it looks like the original video, but the surprise comes when Ibai is about to reveal his face after shaving. Instead of his face, Domingos Duarte’s face appears, leaving fans taken aback. The video then cuts to a montage of photos of Ibai, but with the player’s face superimposed on each one.
Many fans have responded to the publication, unsure why Getafe created this video. However, it’s clear that it’s had an impact – in less than 24 hours, it has garnered over 500 ‘likes’ and 132,000 views. It just goes to show that a bit of creativity and humor can go a long way in engaging with fans and creating a buzz around a team.
