For over five years, players on PlayStation 4 have explored the vast world of Teyvat. Many adventures unfolded on Sony’s older console. Now, the journey for PS4 players of Genshin Impact is nearing its end.
HoYoverse, the studio behind the popular action RPG, shared some important dates. The PS4 version of Genshin Impact will completely shut down on April 8, 2026. Before that, you won’t be able to find the game on the PlayStation Store after September 10, 2025. Also, a bit earlier, from February 25, 2026, PS4 players will no longer be able to buy any items inside the game.

HoYoverse explained their decision. They said the PS4’s hardware limits and the game’s growing size became too much. It’s a common story in tech as games get bigger and more complex. Don’t worry, players on PS5 and other platforms can keep playing without any interruptions.
The world of Genshin Impact keeps expanding. The game is now in the final phase of its Version 5 update, which focuses on the desert city of Natlan. Soon, players will journey to Nod-Krai. This is a separate area linked to Snezhnaya, the icy country. Many new characters were shown off in late July, keeping the game fresh for its community.
If you’re still playing Genshin Impact on your PS4, there’s still plenty of time to enjoy the game. But it might be worth thinking about switching to a newer console. Genshin Impact is still widely available on mobile devices, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, and PC.
